These samples show different moments in the same adventure: Button Bridge from the children’s book and Thunder Workshop from the adult book. Each sample includes its matching story passage. They are not the same scene drawn two ways.
Print at “Fit to page”. Put each story page beside its illustration. Try pencils or crayons on your chosen paper; your home printout will not demonstrate the paper quality of an Amazon paperback.
Children’s edition · scene 9
They tied up beside Button Bridge, where the traveller stepped onto the landing with the parcel. A duck family was crossing in front of the ferry, so nobody hurried. Above them, enormous buttons decorated the arch. One carried a star like the mark on their clue. Beyond the bridge lay the garden canal. As the last duck paddled past, the traveller climbed aboard again.
Adult edition · scene 16
Inside Thunder Workshop, pressure pipes crossed galleries of cloud frames and electrical vessels. Workers tended rain, wind and static, moving between bellows, valves and hanging clouds. The traveller stood beside the ferry and watched the machinery answer in uneven bursts. This was where the city's weather was balanced, and something was out of rhythm. A repair station beside the water offered the next place to help.
